Have you heard of this?

There is a club called the "Marathon Maniacs", their goal is usually just to complete a marathon in all 50 states at some point in their lives. Some are little more hardcore and try to do 50 marathons in 50 states, in one year.

But this is crazy. Dean Karnazes is the ultimate of ultra-marathon runners. He has been featured in Runner's World several times and was one of the first people ever to run over 300 miles at one time! Although, he did admit to occasionally falling asleep while he was running.

His lastest endevour has been to run 50 marathons, in 50 states, in 50 days. Don't worry Sue, this is something that I will never have interest in trying. It's for the clearly unstable.

Yeah - that guy is nutso cuckoo!

Doing one marathon or one triathlon is crazy enough - though, I'm starting to realise how the sport sucks you in and makes you want to go longer and faster. But, most of us are able to realise where to draw the line.

In the latest issue of Runners World, Dean discusses what he hopes will be his next feat - running from California to Hawaii in a bubble across the ocean....

Can you say cuckoo....?

How do you fall asleep while you're running?

However, I don't see how this is any less insane than the ironman.

Yet I must admit that the idea of running across the ocean in a bubble sounds intriguing to me. Especially if you're ending up in Hawaii!

That does sound crazy. It is amazing how much potential the human body has.

The marathon runs remind me of Terry Fox. He ran a marathon everyday. So it is not impossible (especially for us who have two legs).

Well it's been done already this year by another fellow....but, still it's crazy for one person to try it let alone two..:-D

Good call Cliff, it's a lot like Terry Fox. I don't know if he's doing any sort of fundraising for this, do you?

I had seen that it had already been done, but I don't care how many people do it, it's still nuts!
