This is a 5 minute video about Ironman. It is the distance that I one day hope to complete. Not because I think I can win, but because doing it is the victory. As Teshie says, "this is about limits, reaching them, exploring them, exceeding or coming to the conclusion that are none."
I've seen this video and others like it hundreds of times. I see their pain and suffering. I've read peoples accounts of doing an Ironman, there is nothing easy about it. I do not take that for granted. Knowing what people go through to complete one of these races inspires me. And somewhere deep inside me is a burning desire and a need to do this.
Thanks to Flatman for posting this.

As your wife, I want you to know that if you want to do the race in Hawaii, I want you to know that I'll be right there with you the whole time. Well, if it takes 17 hours to do the race, I might spend some time on the beach...
I didn't mean to say "I want you to know" twice in the same sentence. That was bad.
Sue...I can come with you to keep you company on the beach while you wait and to cheer Nick on!!

I doubt it'll be Hawaii. You have to qualify for that one, which means, you have to be great. Or lucky, there's a lottery system too, but those odds are like winning, well, the lottery...
Ironman has several races around the world each year. I'd be interested in Florida (because if not Hawaii, why not Florida!) or Switzerland (it's in Zurich). But I'd have to find some hills to train on for that one. Florida might be more my style.
Holy cow man, I watch that and think that those people are crazy.
I can't wait until you get there.
Has my insanity ever been in question? I think I'm perfect for doing this.
